Introducing our new range of infusions
To celebrate this new year, and to round off La Plantation’s 10th anniversary celebrations, we’re bringing you new herbal tea blends; a distinctive fusion of ethical, original and inspiring spices and botanicals, grown directly on our fertile land in Kampot, Southern Cambodia.
Today, let’s dive into the plant heritage that the Khmers have carefully preserved, filled with the benefits of traditional Cambodian medicine, influenced by ancient medical practices such as ayurveda and Chinese medicine, which have influenced the creation of these new herbal tea blends with their meaningful names: Floral Glow Herbal Tea, Tropical Delight Herbal Tea, and Forest Elixir Herbal Tea.
Ancestral Khmer knowledge about infusions
Khmer knowledge of plants is passed down from generation to generation through a deeply rooted tradition within regions and families, particularly in the southern region of Cambodia, in Kampot. This precious knowledge guides every stage of the manual harvesting of our plants, including our Kampot pepper, our turmeric and our ginger, where every gesture is based on respect for nature and its benefits.
We continue this tradition by carefully preserving the benefits of the plants through the process of immediate dehydration at low temperature. This delicate method ensures that the exquisite aromas and organoleptic qualities of each leaf, root, flower and fruit selected for our herbal teas are preserved intact. This approach offers our consumers an authentic experience of the Cambodian terroir. In this way, our commitment to the Khmer ancestral knowledge of plants is reflected in the preservation of age-old traditions.
Each infusion is entirely natural and the result of a meticulous selection of ingredients, respecting the diversity of Cambodian flora. Leaves, roots, flowers and fruits combine to create unique blends that celebrate the rich biodiversity of our region.
Why did we create blended Infusions?
The design of our blended herbal teas stems from a number of key motivations and objectives that reflect our commitment to quality, well-being and the aromatic experience. Here are some of the reasons why we have chosen to create blended herbal teas:
-
Flavour combination: We aspire to offer an exceptional taste experience by skilfully combining different plants, roots, flowers and fruits.
-
Health benefits: Each selected ingredient is chosen not only for its taste, but also for the health benefits it provides.
-
Cultural heritage: Drawing inspiration from Cambodian history and tradition, we aim to honour and preserve the cultural heritage associated with the knowledge of plants, by highlighting emblematic spices such as Hibiscus and Lemongrass.
-
Innovation and creativity: The search for new combinations of ingredients stimulates our innovation and the creativity of the teams dedicated to designing our herbal teas.
-
Respect for the environment and ethics: The creation of blended herbal teas is part of our commitment to sustainable methods that respect the environment, both in the selection of ingredients and in production, particularly in the context of fair trade.
In short, the creation of blended herbal teas is the fruit of a holistic approach, combining cultural heritage, the quest for health benefits and respect for the environment.
