Product information
This gift set brings together four certified organic spices cultivated across three Cambodian regions: Kampot, Mondolkiri and Kampong Thom. Each product is accompanied by its precise provenance, so the set works as both a culinary discovery and a comparative tasting of Cambodian pepper in its different forms and expressions.
It is a set designed for everyone — seasoned cooks and curious beginners alike — who want to explore the aromatic range of a single country’s production, through spices grown in line with the principles of organic farming.
La Plantation has farmed its spices according to organic principles from the outset. The land is certified under a registration number that complies with the non-EU organic agriculture standard applicable to certified organic production outside the European Union, in line with European regulation EU 2018/848.
Every stage, from cultivation to processing, is monitored to ensure complete traceability: the origin, terroir and production method of each of the four spices in this set are fully documented and verifiable. La Plantation has held its Ecocert organic certification since 2016, covering both the European and USDA Organic (NOP) standards.
Organic Kampot Black Pepper PGI: Kampot pepper holds a Protected Geographical Indication in addition to its organic certification, which places it among the rarest and most traceable peppers in the world. Its aromas are at their most intense when ground at the last moment: spiced and complex, with subtle notes of chocolate, mint and eucalyptus.
Organic Mondolkiri Pepper Trio: this trio combines the three colours of pepper — black, red and white — harvested at different stages of ripeness from the same plant. Together they offer a broad aromatic range, from the most delicate to the most assertive, within a single certified organic terroir.
Organic Salt-Pickled Kampong Thom Pepper: a fresh pepper preserved in salt rather than dried. It is eaten directly, whole or lightly sliced, with no cooking or grinding required. The salt-pickling process gives it a distinct texture and an aromatic profile that sets it apart from any dry pepper in the range.
Organic Turmeric Powder: selected for its high curcumin content, this turmeric adds a deep golden colour and a lightly peppery warmth to preparations. It is the same small-root Cambodian variety used in the Fleur de Curcuma powder, grown on the certified Kampot farm.
Organic Kampot black pepper PGI pairs naturally with red meat, game and charcuterie. In Italian cooking it gives precision to a cacio e pepe or a risotto — its complexity holds its own against strong flavours.
The Mondolkiri pepper trio suits the same range of dishes, with the intensity varying according to the colour chosen: the white is the gentlest, the black is the most structured, and the red sits between the two with a fruity, rounded warmth.
The salt-pickled Kampong Thom pepper works in both savoury and sweet preparations. It pairs with a salad, a piece of fish, a classic pepper steak or a cream sauce, and surprises used as a finishing touch on a chocolate mousse or a fresh fruit dessert.
Organic turmeric powder integrates naturally into a vegetable curry, a meat or fish dish, a paella, or alongside carrots, squash and sweet potato. It also works as a golden milk — stirred into warm plant milk with honey and a pinch of black pepper to improve absorption.

Does this set carry the same organic certification as products grown in Europe? Yes. La Plantation’s organic certification is issued by Ecocert under European regulation EU 2018/848, the same standard that applies to certified organic farms within the European Union. The fact that the products are grown in Cambodia does not lower the certification requirements — an independent audit verifies compliance at every stage of production. What is the difference between the Mondolkiri trio and a standard single-colour pepper? The Mondolkiri trio combines black, red and white pepper harvested from the same plant at different stages of ripeness. Black is harvested slightly underripe and has a firm, structured heat. Red is harvested at full ripeness and develops a more fruity, rounded profile. White has been retted to remove the outer skin and is the gentlest of the three. Together they offer a comparative tasting of a single terroir’s range — a different experience from choosing one colour alone. How is salt-pickled pepper different from dried pepper? Salt-pickled pepper is harvested at full ripeness and preserved in salt rather than dried. It retains the texture and freshness of a berry at its peak — soft, juicy and aromatic in a way that no dried pepper can replicate. It does not go in a mill and does not need cooking. It is a condiment in its own right, used directly on the plate or incorporated into a dish at the last moment. Is this a good gift for someone who does not usually cook with spices? Yes. The set is designed to be accessible regardless of cooking experience. The salt-pickled pepper and the turmeric powder both require no special technique — they can be used directly with almost no preparation. The Mondolkiri trio and the Kampot black pepper simply go in a standard pepper mill. The set comes with enough variety to be interesting to an experienced cook while remaining approachable for someone discovering Cambodian spices for the first time. Why is the curcumin content of the turmeric worth mentioning? Most commercial turmeric powders contain between 2% and 5% curcumin, the compound responsible for turmeric’s colour, flavour and widely studied properties. La Plantation’s organic turmeric comes from a small-root Cambodian variety with a curcumin content of around 10% — roughly double the standard. This makes it more aromatic and more concentrated, which means a smaller quantity is needed per dish.
