A high quality mill with an
adjustable grinder
To enhance your dishes with Kampot Pepper, we recommend that you provide your guests with a pepper mill and let them grind the pepper directly on their dishes. They’ll be able to appreciate the remarkable aroma and flavour of Kampot Pepper.
We’ve designed a pepper mill that offers a host of advantages for everyday use. It’s as beautiful as it is powerful. You’ll be able to see the beautiful black, red, white and green Kampot peppercorns through the transparent acrylic container. As with a fine wine, we advise you not to mix the different types of Kampot Pepper. The best way is to fill each of your peppermills with one colour of pepper. This way, your pepper mills will look their best on your table and your guests will be able to grind black, red, white or green Kampot Pepper on their plates.
Our pepper mill is made from natural beech wood (from FSC-certified forests). This certification, created to curb deforestation and maintain a balance between forest exploitation and ecological requirements, is fully in line with La Plantation’s environmental commitments and policy.
The mechanism of our Pepper Mill is made of ceramic and manufactured in Denmark. It is guaranteed for 25 years. This high-quality mechanism is suitable for all types of pepper, as well as salt, hard spices and herbs. A screw at the bottom of the mill lets you adjust the grind size of the peppercorns.
The Pepper Mill is 16 cm high and holds around 30g of pepper. To fill it, simply lift the wooden cap and pour the Kampot Peppercorns into the container.
Our pepper mill can also be used for other spices:
- Wild or forest cardamom seeds: separate the cardamoms into small quarters and insert them into your pepper mill. You’ll be able to grind the cardamom over red fruit salads, grapefruit, yoghurt or in your coffee.
- Long red pepper: long red peppers need to be broken up into small pieces before they can be ground by the mechanism. You can grind the long pepper on pan-fried fruit, foie gras or apple or pear compote.
- Fleur de Sel: if you want a finer grind, you can use the pepper mill to grind your fleur de sel.
- Peppercorns and spice blend: crushed into a mignonette, the spices can be ground finer with the pepper mill.
Whole peppercorns keep their freshness and aroma much longer than pre-packaged ground pepper. By using a peppermill, you can grind your peppercorns as you use them, guaranteeing more intense flavour and aroma.
A pepper mill lets you control the size of the grind by adjusting the fineness or coarseness to suit your preferences. This allows you to obtain the desired texture of pepper, whether for fine seasoning or to add a touch of crunch to a dish.
Pepper mills are generally designed to protect peppercorns from moisture and light, which helps extend their shelf life.
A quality peppermill can be a beautiful kitchen accessory and add a touch of elegance to your table.
Although the initial purchase of a mill may seem expensive compared with pre-packaged ground pepper, in the long run it can prove more economical, as you don’t need to buy ground pepper frequently.
Using our peppercorns and spice mill is relatively simple, but there are a few tips that can help you get the best results and get the most out of this method of seasoning.
Our pepper mill is easy to use, as it fills from the top and can be completely dismantled and cleaned.
HERE ARE A FEW TIPS ON HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR PEPPER MILL:
- Start by using quality peppercorns to get the best flavour. You can explore different types of pepper to vary the flavours, or even different spices. Our Kampot peppercorns come directly from our farm or our cooperative of small neighboring family farms, following the Kampot Pepper standards.
- If your mill can grind different peppers, including Kampot Peppers, and other spices, we advise you not to mix them, but to use different mills, or to clean it thoroughly between each spice.
- Open the mill and pour in the peppercorns. Avoid filling the mill to the brim, as this can make grinding more difficult. Leave a little space to allow for efficient grinding.
- Most pepper mills have a grind setting that allows you to choose how fine or coarse the grind should be. Set it to your preference. For fine peppercorns, tighten the setting; for coarser peppercorns, loosen it.
- It’s best to grind the pepper as you use it, to preserve its freshness. Excessive grinding and storage of ground pepper is not recommended, as it can alter the flavour and deteriorate the freshness of the pepper.
- Add seasoning to your dish according to your personal taste. Start with a small amount and adjust as necessary. Remember that freshly ground pepper has a more intense flavour than pre-ground pepper.
- From time to time, clean your pepper mill to avoid the build-up of pepper residue that can affect the quality of the grind.
- Store your peppercorns in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Make sure the mill is closed tightly to prevent moisture from getting in.
