WHAT IS TAMARIND?
Tamarind is the fruit of the tamarind tree, a tropical tree native to Africa. It is also cultivated in many tropical regions, including Asia, Latin America, and parts of India. Tamarind has a hard, brown outer shell, enclosing an edible pulp surrounding large seeds. The colour of the pulp can range from brown to dark brown, depending on the ripeness of the fruit. Tamarind is known for its sweet and tangy pulp, which is used in cooking to impart a distinctive flavour.
HOW IS IT USED?
Tamarind pulp is often used in the form of paste, juice, or concentrate in cooking.
