Whether it’s with friends or family, the aperitif is a sacred moment of summer, to be shared with loved ones! And why not add a little pepper, spice, smokiness, saltiness – in short, a little spice? Discover our 7 recipes for a spicy aperitif

Bloody Mary aux épices

A spicy Bloody Mary cocktail

We love a good Bloody Mary because it’s always an opportunity to spice it up in a new way. At the moment, we love adding a little of our Tamarind BBQ and Smoked Chilli Sauces to give it a smoky flavour and a bit of spice. For a surprisingly crunchy garnish, we add a few grains of Fresh Kampot Pepper in Salt just before serving!

To make this cocktail (with or without vodka), pour the tomato juice into your cocktail glass, add a shot of vodka, then a quarter teaspoon of Smoked Chilli Sauce and BBQ Sauce (adjust to taste) and sprinkle with 2 or 3 grains of Fresh Kampot Pepper with Salt and a pinch of Fleur de Sel.

A cheese board with Kampot Pepper

We love this recipe from Season Suppers because it’s so quick to prepare, ideal for impromptu aperitifs. Prepare a beautiful cheese board with an assortment of hard, soft and small soft goats’ cheeses. Pour Green Kampot Pepper Sauce and Black Kampot Pepper Sauce into two ramekins. We also love combining our Cardamom Duo Sauce with fresh and more mature goats’ cheeses – a real treat!

Roasted nuts that take you on a journey

Cambodia produces a lot of delicious cashew nuts, which we love to spice up with Rub Cacao, a little olive oil and Fleur de Sel de Kampot, and bake in the oven at around 200°C for 5 to 10 minutes. If you don’t have any cashew nuts, you can also toast some almonds with our Smoked Blend, or hazelnuts with our Chai Blend for a slightly sweeter touch. These spiced roasted nuts are delicious on ice cream or yoghurt!

A buttery radish like no other

Ready in just 5 minutes, we love making a Butter Radish, flavoured with Green Mango powder, our Amchoor. Adding a little spice to your butter always adds a surprising touch to any dinner party, so you’re sure to impress your guests! You can also add some Green Pepper Rub, it’s divine!

When the fridge is empty, there’s always one wonderful ingredient left in the cupboard: a tin of sardines! They’re a great ally for last-minute aperitifs. Season Suppers has come up with a great recipe for a spread using sardines and Khmer Ketchup Sauce. For chilli lovers, you can also add a little Smoked Chilli Sauce, or leave the sauce on the table so that everyone can dose according to their tolerance! A mini version for aperitifs is delicious and very easy to make.

Since then, we’ve always prepared a small bowl of Salt Pepper, which we leave on the table for aperitifs. Some people enjoy it as it is, while others add it to cheeses or toast, but it’s always a guaranteed success!
